You will like to know that…
A common proverb in Spanish is "más viejo que Matusalén." Meaning older than Methuselah, you can this use to say that something is as old as they come. Since Methuselah lived to the ripe old age of 969, being older than that would be quite a difficult task to achieve. Matusalem rum, founded in 1872, chose this biblical name for their brand, quite clearly illustrating how important Matusalem considers ageing to be when it comes to producing its fine selection of rums.
Matusalem 23 Años is just one example of the beautiful products offered by the brand. Made in the Dominican Republic, the brand was founded by two Spaniards who applied their knowledge of the Spanish solera and criaderas method of making sherry to the rum-making processes in the Caribbean. The solera also offers a natural method of quality control, ensuring that the flavour of the product remains the same from bottle to bottle.
After 23 years in the solera, the rum that emerges is a copper-brown delight. Rich, spicy, and perfect for enjoying on its own, this expertly aged rum is much loved around the world for its complex flavour. Smooth and creamy at the same time, this an aged rum that is perfect to enjoy neat.
