TASTING NOTES OF El Ron Prohibido Habanero 15 Year old:

  • Color: dark caramel, amber
  • Flavour: intensive dried fruit, grape, cherry, plum, pleasant presence of hints of vanilla, wet wood, walnut, mocha and a hint of caramel.
  • Taste: grape, plum, walnut with a touch of chocolate and coffee.

PRODUCER: Habanero.

COUNTRY: MEXICO.

PRODUCTION DETAILS: fermentation of cane juice from sugar cane, then distilled in a still column to produce rum, then mixed with the screed 15.

Prohibido el Ron Gran Reserva where "rum prohibited" is an old molasses rum 15 years in oak barrels that have contained wine doux.Historiquement this rum imported from the New World by the Spanish, was stored in barrels of Spanish wine and soft aged during the Atlantic crossing. Distilled in contact with sweet wine barrels enjoyed very specific aromas. No Gran Reserva Rum is a Mexican rum aged for 15 years through a solera system in American oak barrels. Legend has it that during the eighteenth century, Spanish ships came to America with reserves of sweet wine in barrels. Instead of returning to Spain empty, they filled it with Mexican rum, known as Chinguirito. During the trip, rum absorbed the aromatic characteristics of the barrels, producing high quality rum.
