El Dorado 12 Year Old is a blend of select aged rums, all of which are at least 12 years old. Demerara Distillers Limited has over 300 years of experience in rum production. Drinking this rum is like sipping on a page out of a history book.
Located on the banks of the Demerara River in Guyana, this Caribbean rum is made using sugar cane cultivated along the banks of the same river. Once this local sugar cane is harvested and turned into molasses, it is then fermented and distilled before being left to age in old bourbon oak casks. Demerara Distillers Limited continues to operate using original stills from the 18th and 19th centuries, something that other rum producers cannot compete with.
El Dorado rums are very smooth and complex. It takes patience to allow a rum to age slowly. This process adds dimension and depth to create a lush, full-bodied rum that is both elegant and dry. Enjoy this cask aged, gold medal winning rum straight, on the rocks, or mixed in any classic cocktail. If you want to enjoy this rum with a meal, pair it with heavily sauced or acidic dishes, to cut through the sweetness of the rum. It is best at the end of a meal, though, with some chocolate to bring out the hidden notes of this spectacular rum.

Palate: This rum has been awarded several times as the best rum in the Caribbean. Granted the seal of approval in the International Spirits Challenge in London in 1998, the Eldorado Rum 12 years was assigned 95 of the 100 points possible in the Beverage Tasting Institute of Chicago and awarded the gold medal.
