You will like to know that…
The Bacardi rum company was founded in 1862. It is known in Cuba as "the rum of the bat" thanks to the iconic black bat on its label. This mascot is a nod to the large numbers of fruit bats that lived happily in the rafters of the first Bacardi distillery. As bats symbolise good luck, health, and good fortune in Cuba, it seems as though their mascot has brought good luck to this brand. The distillery has been family owned and operated since founding, now in the hands of the seventh generation of descendants.
Don Facundo Macardí Massó, the founder of Bacardi, spent 10 years perfecting his recipe for Bacardi Carta Blanca, sometimes known as Bacardi Superior. As the hallmark product of the Bacardi line, Bacardi Carta Blanca is a classic white rum that acts as the perfect base for any rum cocktail. To achieve its distinctive smoothness, Bacardi Carta Blanca is matured in white oak barrels and treated with charcoal.
Bacardi Carta Blanca is a chameleon which fits in perfectly with almost anything as it does not disappear into the background like vodka or dominate the scene like gin. Enjoy it in daiquiris, mojitos, piña coladas, and Cuba Libres to give them that authentic Cuban touch. Pair it with seafood or spicy dishes on the savoury side or use it as an accompaniment for desserts.

PRODUCER: Bacardi Limited. It is somewhat astonishing that, despite being the best-selling spirit brand on the planet, produced and ever more popular since 1862, this remains a family-controlled brand.
COUNTRY: Puerto Rico
PRODUCTION DETAILS: Drier, light-bodied rums and fuller-bodied rums were aged separately in lightly charred casks, which formerly held bourbon, for 1-2 years, prior to charcoal-filtration then blending. It's no surprise that Bacardi (Carta Blanca) is a backbar staple globally. This light and lively white rum is wonderfully versatile, mixing with and complementing almost anything you can think to put with it. Of course Bacardi and Coke is a worldwide classic, and the mojito was invented for Bacardi (Carta Blanca) , but you could try a more tropical twist by making Rum Punch, a cool and gorgeous Caribbean tipple which makes any party go. As well as Bacardi (Carta Blanca) , blend cranberry, orange, and pineapple juices, and add a dash of grenadine and a wedge of lime for a holiday in a glass.
The Bacardi Limited story is a peculiar one. Indeed, when Facundo Bacardí Massó left the little town of Sitges, Catalonia, at the beginning of the 19th century, little did he know that he would end up creating one of the largest spirits company in the world.More about the Producer
