Appleton Distilleries are the oldest and most recognized in Jamaica, and home to the best wines of this Caribbean nation. The Appleton Estate 21 Years is one of the company's letters of introduction, and it combines several aged rums for 21 years in American oak containers.

After the prolonged aging and mixing process, the Appleton Estate 21 Years remains in aging for two more years to achieve a balanced, expressive, and complex flavor.

As an added value to ensure the best quality, the company puts a number on each bottle and gives the buyer a certificate of seniority with the signature of the master mixer Joy Spence.

TASTING NOTES:

  • Colour: This beverage has a copper red hue. Even though it is a spiced rum, the spices cannot be seen in the drink.
  • Aroma: A variety of spices work together to make up the powerful aroma. Some of the most noticeable spices include oak spices, orange peel, nutmeg, coffee beans, brown sugar, and vanilla.
  • Taste: On the tongue, this drink has a bold presence. As with the scent, the flavour is overcome with the same variety of spices and botanicals. There is an additional light sweetness that might not be immediately noticeable in the aroma. The finish is long and dry.

PRODUCER: The Appleton Estate is the oldest sugarcane estate in Jamaica, founded in 1749. All the sugarcane used in this estate's alcohols are grown on-site. Springwater is also collected nearby. The estate also prides itself in using a variety of "green" technologies in its distilling process.

COUNTRY: Jamaica.

PRODUCTION DETAILS: This rum is a mixed variety. This means that several types of rums are made separately and then mixed together after they are all completed ageing. Each of these beverages are made with sugarcane and spring water. Each of the rums used in this recipe is aged for a minimum of 21 years in American oak barrels and this is what gives the beverage its name.
