Ossian Quintaluna Verdejo Magnum 2018 (Malvasía, Verdejo and Viura)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: clean and bright, pale yellow, greenish reflections.
  • Nose: intense and elegant nose, aromas and citrus fruit, subtle notes, hints of flowers and balsam.
  • Mouth: soft step in and clean mouth good acidity and hints of fruit, freshness and a long finish.

APPELLATION: Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León.

VINEYARD: The grapes come from small vineyards spread over the north of Segovia, these are composed mostly ungrafted vines (prefiloxéricas plants) planted on sandy soils and cultivated using organic farming techniques. Poor soils of low yields allow better concentration of all the characteristics of the variety Verdejo Segoviano.

GRAPES: Verdejo 100%.

AGEING: finally part of the wine was aged in the same fermentation tanks for 9 months with indigenous yeasts while the rest was stored in oak fudres during the same time.

PREPARATION: The harvest is done manually with a careful selection of grapes on the farm. Once in the winery a selection is made to table, de-stemmed and pressed gently. Clusters previously stored in refrigerated chambers (seeking to preserve the aromatic properties of the Verdejo) until the time of his selection table and destemming. a very gentle pressing is performed with a natural settling for 24 hours. Then the wine is fermented with the lees in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures.

WINE PAIRING: soft cheeses and salads, seafood dishes, fish or rice dishes oriental food.

RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 7-10ºC

The project is a truly exceptional vineyards: 30 hectares. extremely old vineyard, between 100 and 200 years old. It is 100% Verdejo is pre-phylloxera because the soil is sandy and phylloxera could not go for it. For both rootstock (ungrafted). The clusters are very small with tiny berries and high quality.
