Located in Briones, La Rioja, in northern Spain is the Vivanco winery, museum, and foundation. There is where this Reserva is born, in old vines of more than 35 years, which are hand-harvested and each fermented separately in small French oak vats for a total of over 4 years. A Reserva that is ready-to-drink now. You'll love it!

Description of Vivanco Reserva 2008

Vivanco Reserva 2008 (Graciano and Tempranillo)

  • View: Dinastia Vivanco Reserva 2008 shows a somewhat dark cherry red color, trim granatosa raspberry hue, medium-high, thin tear chubby something fast to slow moments and others ... we noticed some grounds but hardly noticeable.
  • Nariz: Medium intensity nose, the toasted oak dominate on the whole, sometimes arise ripe fruit with hints of wild fruit (wild fresita with Sichuan pepper), laurel first, fine spices (back to Sichuan ), mountain herbs with fresh rosemary, light point cocoa and roasted notes resurface something burning wood, liquor and soft touch of ripe cherry, leaves and light background wet soil. Although it lacks some expressiveness, is quite in line with sample wines from Rioja reserve.
  • Boca: Soft on the palate with a more marked than one might imagine and that is quite drying astringency, good tour with nerve and some dense body, good acidity, roasted still very sharp and polished, firm tannins and quite rough, ripe fruit and marked predominance of spicy notes (black pepper red as in nose), balsamic somewhat dry, Amargosas notes that last and are the resurgence of timber halfway and persists until the end, quite powerful and difficult moments to appreciate the different registers.

CELLAR: Dinastía Vivanco

GRAPES: 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano.

The Winery

Bodegas Vivanco

Bodegas Vivanco

The origins of the winemaking vocation of the Vivanco family date back to the year 1915; to the winemaking district of the village of Alberite, La Rioja, where Pedro Vivanco Gonzalez started to make wine for family use from his vineyards. In 1940 he bought a small wine cellar business in the same village. A curious caption had been carved over the door of that cellar reading: "he who walks by and is thirsty, if the door is, should enter and drink".

Deep cherry colored wine with garnet, clean and bright. Complex aromas of candied fruit well assembled with fine woods and spicy background. Elegant on the palate emphasizing the harmony between its noble tannins, good acidity and balsamic background. Is an elegant, complex and persistent wine.
Dynasty Vivanco Reserva remains 24 months in new and second year French and American oak barrels. The wine is refined for several months in French oak tino before moving to bottle where it will remain for another 24 months.
