Viña Tondonia Reserva Magnum 2006 (Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo, Tempranillo, Garnacha tinta, Granacha and Garnacha negra)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: bright ruby, light amber.
  • Nose: Very fine, fresh, toast, light aromas of vanilla and very persistent nose.
  • Mouth: Very dry, soft, round and developed.

APPELLATION: Rioja.

VINEYARD: Name: Tondonia vineyard. Vineyard located on the right bank of the Ebro River, with an altitude between 438 and 489 meters. Area: 150 hectares. More than 50 years old. various fields ranging from alluvial to calcareous clay with presence of gravel and pebbles.

GRAPES: 70% Tempranillo, Grenache 20%, 10% Graciano, Mazuelo.

AGEING: 6 years of aging in American oak barrels own, used. Submitted 2 rackings per year.

PREPARATION: grapes passed through a stemmer to remove the scratch, I must fermented with grape skins in large oak vats of 240 hectoliters.

WINE PAIRING: pasta dishes like fettuccine with beef stroganoff and boletus.

TEMPERATURE: 16 °C

ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13%

This Spanish red wine is medium, ruby-coloured robe with a brick red rim. On the nose, it's deep and enticing. The first impression of this wine from Rioja is defined by some spicy notes of vanilla and clove, along with fine leather, smoke and withered herbs. As the wine opens, it shows notes of ripe red fruit, some remembrances of flowers and a dash of tobacco, cocoa and arabica coffee. On the palate, this wine is fresh, linear and smooth. Notes of red berries, Havana cigars and Oriental spices. Tense acidity, medium body and a long, dreamy persistance.
