Viña Ardanza Reserva 1985 (Garnacha and Tempranillo)
CATA NOTES: Viña Ardanza Reserva 1985
- View: ruby red medium-high, very vivid and bright layer, strong sense of thickness, and copper highlights grandinos, broad edge, atejado.
- Nose: fine, soft, medium intensity, aromas of freshly ground coffee, cinnamon, cream, vanilla, wood quality and spicy note of clove and ginger, ripe red fruit, cherry liqueur, smoked, English snuff.
- Mouth: fleshy, spicy, intense and lively acidity, firm tannins, lots of energy and a dose of unusual balance in a wine with such vigor, very small fruit and a hint of sweetness by the bitter counterpoint.
APPELLATION: Rioja.
BODEGA: La Rioja Alta S.A.
GRAPES: 70% tempranillo, Grenache 25%, 5% and mazuelo graciano.
AGEING: transfer to American oak barrels used 225 liters, aged for 48 months with a total of 8 manual racking.
PREPARATION: first fermentation in stainless steel tanks, then racking to be refined during 12 months old oak vats 18,000 liters.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 12.5%

On July 10, 1890, five Basque and Rioja-based vine growers created "Sociedad Vinicola De La Rioja Alta" in what is known as the Haro Station District. This was the beginning of a fascinating business venture in which the only dream of the five founders was to craft and age high-quality wines.
