You will like to know that…
San Vicente 2013 is a red single variety wine made from Tempranillo Peludo, a historical variety which has practically disappeared due to the low yield it offers. San Vicente is produced from an almost organic crop (organic fertilizer and without the use of herbicides or pesticides) and a very demanding selection (manual harvest in boxes and double selection belt in the winery).
Since its first vintage in 1991, San Vicente has opened new avenues in the Rioja-qualified appellation, obtaining excellent scores ever since. San Vicente is fruity intensity combined with complexity and longevity, and has been awarded 94 Peñín and 93 Parker points.
In the Sierra de Cantabria, Guillermo Eguren decided almost three decades ago to plant a native Rioja variety of the Sonsierra area: the hairy Tempranillo. The decision to select only this variety embodies the aim of prioritizing quality over profitability. A variety that was disappearing due to its low yield, ideal for barrel aging and with which fruity, elegant and smooth wines are achieved. With this, Guillermo and his brothers have managed to create a particularly unique wine, hailing from a unique estate, a unique variety and a unique winery.
