Bodegas Roda

In the Rioja, where there seemed to be nothing left to achieve, in Haro's world famous century-old Barrio de la Estacion district, on a terrace jutting into one of the bends in the Ebro river, the beginning of this whole adventure was to take place. What better way to personalize a new project...

Roda Reserva 2013

Grapes: 97% Tempranillo - 3% Graciano

Country: Spain
Contents: 0, 75 l
In the late '80s, Mario and Carmen Rotland Daurella founded in the town of Haro, in the high Rioja, the winery BODEGAS RODA. The name of the winery comes from their initials and logo, the flower of the thistle, sums up the spirit as elegant but strong and close relationship with the territory. Aware of the pre-existence in the region of numerous and ancient cellars, Mario and Carmen have made every effort in developing an exciting project aimed at creating a completely new reality to the world of wine. The property comprises approximately 75 hectares of vineyards, planted from scratch and become in a short time reference point for the assets of clonal Tempranillo as the plants selected are the result of careful and meticulous research by Agustin Santolaya, former professor of ' University of La Rioja, currently oenologist and agronomist RODA. The relative youth of the implanted screws and the will to use, for their wines RODA and RODA I, grapes from vineyards aged not less than 30-35 years, have forced so far Mario and Carmen to buy a certain quantity of grapes from other growers with whom they have ongoing long-term contracts. Since its creation, RODA was inspired by the principles of sustainable viticulture, thus avoiding herbicides and pesticides. BODEGAS RODA only produces wines from indigenous varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano: the percentages used may vary from year to year.

Roda 2013

Balsamic and menthol aromas. Although I prefer less sweet wines, this one it was good.
The Roda is very good if served cold.

I bought a box in my usual wine shop.
Nice red Bordeaux colour. Candy aromas. It tasted like wood.
