Ramón Bilbao Gran Reserva 2011 (Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo)

TASTING NOTES:

  • View: cherry red, tile trim, clean and bright.
  • Nose: complex, notes of underbrush, spicy, fruity aromas, candied fruit, toasted notes, mineral notes and fine wood.
  • Mouth: elegant tannins, bright, complex, harmonious, breeding notes, snuff, cocoa, frutale mineral notes, long and persistent.

APPELLATION: Rioja.

VINEYARD: The grapes come from old vineyard plots Haro and its surroundings (Las Arogues, La Llana, San Prudencio)

GRAPES: Grenache, Graciano and Tempranillo.

AGEING: 30 months in American oak barrels. After bottling the wine spends 36 months aging in an underground wine rack.

Made in modern style, despite the 36 months in American oak, this is a deeply colouredblend of Tempranillo with 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano. Its a youthful, concentrated redwith plenty of backbone and structure, fresh acidity and layers of ripe plum and blueberry fruit.
