Mirto 2014 (Tempranillo)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: Intense cherry red, garnet rim.
- Nose: complex, powerful aromas of black fruit, coffee beans, subtle hints of toast, graphite and cocoa.
- Mouth: sweet and enveloping step, very fruity and fresh notes of plums, menthol and spicy, wide range of varietal nuances and toasted. Lingering aftertaste, a pleasant, expressive and final round.
APPELLATION: Rioja.
GRAPES: Tempranillo.
AGEING: a period of 22 months in new French oak barrels of Allier with a toasting level has been especially chosen for this vintage.
PREPARATION: fermentation in small French oak vats. After careful temperature controlled fermentation to achieve maximum extraction of aromas and color, step barrels to perform malolactic fermentation without racking, only with the batonnage by the technique of "bâtonnage".
PAIRING: dishes with vegetable and smoked flavors like mushrooms and truffles, with dishes and stews subtly spicy and soft cheeses half healing, chop terne (cecina), with corpulent but creamy cheese (Stilton).

Red primary color with violet hints. Sure smell of gooseberries. It felt too acidic of a Rioja.
