Description
Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2016 (Garnacha, Graciano, Mazuelo and Tempranillo)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: Cherry red.
- Nose: Refined fruit aromas that combine perfectly with the floral, balsamic and spicy notes and the touches of oak.
- Mouth: The palate is juicy and rich, elegant and slightly toasted. Its tannins go unnoticed thanks to their perfect integration with its fruit. Very pleasant acidity that gives it length.
APPELLATION: Rioja.
VINEYARD: Located in Finca Ygay, the Ygay vineyards occupy an area of 300 hectares surrounding the winery, in the Rioja Alta, with an altitude difference from 320 metres to 485 metres.
WINEMAKING: Manual harvest from 3rd - 22nd October 2016. The bunches are destemmed and gently crushed. The varieties are fermented separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Vatting lasts 8 days, during which time the must is repeatedly pumped over to encourage contact between the must and the skins, and to encourage a slow, natural extraction of aromas and polyphenols. After fermentation, the solid parts of the grapes are pressed in vertical presses, in a gentle and slow process that favours the extraction of the colour and ripe tannins that reside in the skins.
AGEING: Aged 22 months in American oak barrels of 225 L. capacity. A minimum of 12 months in bottle before being sold.
WINE PAIRING: Pairs well with grilled meat, cured ham, grilled vegetables, fish and semi-cured cheeses.
