Description of Coto de Imaz Reserva 2015
Coto de Imaz Reserva 2015 (Tempranillo)
TASTING NOTES:
- View: dark ruby red color with purple hues.
- Nose: intense, sweet and fresh notes of ripe red fruits, wild flowers, chocolate, caramel, vanilla and red berries.
- Mouth: fine taste, complex and good acidity, soft tannins on the palate and light notes of red fruits.
APPELLATION: Rioja (La Rioja, Spain).
VINEYARD: El Coto de Rioja.
GRAPES: Tempranillo.
AGEING: Madura for 14 months in barrels of French oak, in contact with its lees.
PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed, are squeezed in a traditional way, you cold soaked for 25 days, and fermented in stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28 ° C.
WINE PAIRING: Appetizers, canapes, roasted red meats, stews, pastas, vegetables and blue cheese.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 ° C
ALCOHOL: 13.5%

The Winery
El Coto de Rioja

Located in Oyón (Alava), the famous winery occupies a total area of 110,000 m2, out of which nearly 50,000 m2 are dedicated to the cultivation of vines. The vineyard lies in Cenicero (Rioja Alta), near the Rio Najerilla oriented to the northwest, on predominantly clay soil. The rest of the grapes come from selected vintners from the region, Rioja Alavesa. The grapes ferment in tanks of stainless steel under permanently controlled temperatures. Currently, EL COTO DE RIOJA is elaborating 23 million kg. of grapes/year.

Classic red cherry color of a 2016. I really appreciated the berry smell. Although I prefer less sweet wines, this one it was good.
Good wine to drink between hours.
