Bodegas Navajas Reserva 2011 (Tempranillo)
- View: Bodegas Navajas Reserva 2011 has an attractive deep ruby colour.
- Nose: The scent is of oak, cherry, and blackberry aromatics with the notes of herbs and sweet spices.
- Mouth: An explosive, full-bodied palate of smoked meat, blackcurrant, and cocoa spice leads to the sweet flavours of vanilla with a long, smooth acidic finish and the aftertaste of herbs.
VINEYARD: Bodegas Navajas Reserva 2011 is produced by Bodegas Navajas, a winemaking company based in Spain. The company is owned and run by Antonio Navajas, his wife Rosa Maria Gandarias, and their son and daughter. They own Navarrete, a vineyard situated in La Rioja, in the northern region of Spain known for its vibrant local wine industry. The clay soil profile of this region coupled with its cool Mediterranean climate are the perfect conditions for the production of this well-balanced, elegant wine.
GRAPES: 100% Tempranillo
AGEING: The wine is aged in American, Romanian, and French oak barrels for 24-36 months before being bottled to age for a further two years in the cellar before release.
PREPARATION:The grapes that made this 2011 vintage were harvested by hand in the first two weeks of October 2011 and taken to the cellar. Here, the bunches were selected for destemming. After this, they were lightly crushed and the resulting must was transferred to stainless steel vats to undergo fermentation at controlled temperature.
PAIRING: Pairs well with cheeses, game, red meat and Iberian cold meats.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14-16°C
