Vega Sicilia Unico 2009 (Cabernet Sauvignon and Tinto Fino)
TASTING NOTES:

- Nose: Red fruit, balsam, cedar and cigar box aromas.
- Boca: Fino, with a round passage on mineral background.
APPELLATION: Ribera del Duero
VINEYARD: red wine produced by the winery reserve Vega Sicilia, Spain. It has about 1,000 hectares that make up the farm Vega Sicilia, of which 210 are dedicated to the cultivation of the vine. 19 coexist on earth soil types, separated for use in 52 lots. 70 of those hectares are used to produce this wine. They are concave and grapes from steep slopes with climate with Atlantic influence. It has clayey-calcareous soils and alluvial part. Harvested in October 2008.
GRAPES: 95% Tinto Fino and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
AGEING: 10 Almost ten years of breeding which are structured as follows: 14 months in small vats of French and American wood; then it is transferred into new oak barrels of 225 liters and aged for 18 months. After the wine is deposited in other barrels ENVIN to let stand for 8 months. Wood process concludes in wooden vats of 20,000 liters which is aged for 24 months. Finally the wine is bottled and left another 4 years resting on the glass before being marketed, completing a long and complex breeding oenology.
PREPARATION: Make alcoholic fermentation with yeasts in oak tanks temperature controlled. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in wood.
PAIRING: game stews, roasts, stews and red meats.

Vega Sicilia

Vega Sicilia winery is probably the most recognized Spanish wine-growing estate on international level. It was founded by Eloy Lecanda in 1864. During its nearly 150 years of history, the owners of the winery changed but the wines always have kept their personality: concentrated, genres and very elegant. Vega Sicilia currently belongs to Alvarez Mezquíriz who bought it in 1982, looking to be at the forefront regarding the latest innovations in the process of growing, winemaking and expanding the vineyard area.
