TASTING NOTES OF Vega Sicilia Único 1975:
- View: Intense cherry red with brick tones. Vivid and bright.
- Nose: The nose is large and elegant. Progress notes bottled high quality, dominated by spices and menthol notes.
- Mouth: well-built displays, it leaves aside the tannic persistence to make way for the aromatic complexity.
GRAPES: Tempranillo
TEMPERATURE: between 14ºC and 18ºC
ALCOHOL: 13.5%

Vega Sicilia
Vega Sicilia winery is probably the most recognized Spanish wine-growing estate on international level. It was founded by Eloy Lecanda in 1864. During its nearly 150 years of history, the owners of the winery changed but the wines always have kept their personality: concentrated, genres and very elegant. Vega Sicilia currently belongs to Alvarez Mezquíriz who bought it in 1982, looking to be at the forefront regarding the latest innovations in the process of growing, winemaking and expanding the vineyard area.

The 1975 Unico was tasted in January 2012 and is a blend of 70% Tinto Fino, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% Malbec and Albillo that was picked from October 8. The bottom line is that this is a delicious Unico. It appears more mature than the 1974 poured alongside, but don't let that fool you. The nose is soft and mellow with kirsch, liquorice and dried Italian meats that are later augmented by a touch of eucalyptus. The palate has a sorbet-like freshness on the entry: fresh and enticing with voluptuous candied red fruits towards the finish that has a Burgundy-like texture.
