Description · Bodegas Protos

Protos Reserva 2013 (Tinta del País)


  • View: dark cherry red, garnets flashes and thick layer.
  • Nose: Intense nose, black fruit, licorice, lightly toasted, vanilla, spices, minerals and soothing tones.
  • Mouth: sweet, intense, excellent acidity, balsamic and red fruit, long, persistent and harmonious.

APPELLATION: Ribera del Duero.

VINEYARD: Most vineyards are planted on hillsides facing south, looking for sunshine hours required for optimal ripening. Vineyards planted in 1960 (57 years). In general, loose soils, low fertility, poor in organic matter, predominantly limestone. In most cases they have a loamy or sandy loam.

GRAPES: 100% fine Tinto.

AGEING: 18 months in oak barrels (50% new French oak barrels, 30% French oak barrels for one year and 20% American oak barrels for one year).

PREPARATION: fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control, between 28 and 30 °C 21 days maceration with several daily pumping.

PAIRING: poultry, meat, game dishes, strong stews, rice, pasta and cold cuts.

Burgundy colour. Scent of roses and white flowers. Very soft.
I am convinced that any meat will suit.

Reserva 2004 de Protos potente y frutal
This Protos Reserva has spent 18 months in oak barrels and a minimum of 24 months in bottle. A marvel of Ribera del Duero for a very attractive price.
- In a clear glass intense cherry color.
- The nose is powerful and elegant. It smells of black fruit (vanilla) and fruit lic.
- In the mouth this is a long aftertaste so typical of this winery. It is fruity, velvety and balanced structure.
- As best pairing of birds they are stews and red meats of all kinds. The platoas hunting are also highly recommended.
