Protos Crianza 2016 2016 is a fantastic red wine by Bodegas Protos. The successful history of the winery began in 1927, when a group of winegrowers united to produce high quality wines capable of authentically expressing the terroir. Protos was the first winey to settle in the picturesque Ribera del Duero, and in 2008 they completed their new winery in Peñafiel. They continue to produce unique wines that are exported internationally, securing for them the exceptional position at the top of this sector.
The grapes used to make this wine come from different plots of land in the vineyards of Burgos and Valladolid, the very ones that are exclusively south-facing to perfectly capture all the sun's rays. In the glass, this Crianza seduces all our senses: a cherry red colour with violet edges; an intense bouquet of red fruits with notes of vanilla, wood, coconut, pepper and a hint of minerality; expressive on the palate, full of power and elegance, with fruity and toasty aromas, a great balance and a pleasant acidity.
The winery has received many awards and is praised by international critics in the highest tones. Everything is already written in the name: "Protos" means "the first" in Greek.
