Description of Portia Prima 2015

Portia Prima 2015 (Tempranillo)

Intense color with shades of youth in cherry trim. Intense aromas, with many nuances which highlights the very ripe black fruit, being assembled with a multitude of aromas of good aging in wood. Background pepper, vanilla features, accompanied by roasted and balsamic aromas. The palate has a very powerful attack, appreciating a very fleshy wine, with sweet and pleasant tannins, leaving a smooth and friendly aftertaste.

Pairing: Red meat, sausages, roast lamb with wild herbs, and even a mushroom risotto and asparagus.

4/5

- This is a real stand-out wine, especially as its spectacular new winery has been created by Sir Norman Foster, one of the world's top architects. ...
- The winemaker selects grapes from the prime upper side of the bunch, known in Spanish as the 'shoulder'.
- It has a limited production of 100 new French oak barrels. After 10 months in American oak, it undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak.
- 90 point rating from Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate in the February 2008 issue.

I bought it because it was recommended to me.
Violet red colour of a young wine. Toffee smell, followed by coffee smell. I noticed a smoky flavour.

Me and my clients from Ribera del Duero tasted it together.
Cherry red, clean colour. Concentrated aroma of red fruit jam. An intense red.
I propose to pair this Ribera del Duero with sausages from the same region.
