In the hands of the family Zárate His beginnings one of the oldest and most traditional cellars of Albariño from Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin. Located in a small, secluded valley farm Salnes took three generations of dedication to the care of the vines and the production of Albariño, keeping a past that becomes legitimate heirs of one of the oldest traditions. It is the respect that the family has held for the past and the legacy of its congeners, which makes this winery Salnes an intimate, unique and full of memories corner.More about the Winery
The 2013 Caíño, like all the red grapes for now, comes from individual vines that are planted with the Albariño (and the rest of varieties) in their old vineyards on granite soils; it was was full-cluster fermented in an open top oak vat where the bunches were foot trodden. It stayed in the vat and there was daily pigeage for the next four weeks. The wine matured in barriques for one year, where it also underwent malolactic fermentation. This is always very balsamic, with abundant notes of cracked peppercorns, something earthy/mineral reminiscent of wet pumice and notes of flowers in the background. The palate is vibrant and has citric acidity, very fine tannins, great length and persistence. This is an elegant, perfumed, cool climate red easy to drink and terribly tasty.View more
Reviews of Zarate Caiño 2013
It has a dense colour. White flowers are perceived in this Zarate Caiño Blanco. This 2018 is quite like the previous vintage.
A wine with personality.
