You will like to know that…
Mar de Frades, one of the best wineries in Spain, could not have had a better place to be born. Raised in granite and copper in 1897, the winery stands in the center of the Salnés Valley, sheltered by the mountainside and Finca Valiñas vineyard and spoiled by the Atlantic breeze. Mar de Frades, the Galician equivalent for "Mar de Frailes", takes its name from the homonymous place where the pilgrims touched earth on the way to Santiago de Compostela. With a tradition that goes hand in hand with the D.O. Rías Baixas, forged in the brotherhood between the land and the sea, between the human and the spiritual, this winery is the heart of the capital of Albariño.
For the Albariño grapes that gave light to this Mar de Frades 2018, the vintage began on September 14 and was noted for being excellent as few are. Only healthy bunches were cut and, from them, the best grapes were manually chosen. After the test, they went with their skins to meet Ganymede macerators and waited for CO2 for the first 40 hours. Then, they rested 5 months on their lees.
Thus was born a crystalline wine, with lemon-like color and edged with green tones. It was chosen to exhibit a bottle that would honor the sea that cradled it for months. A bottle that, once uncovered, invites you to discover the secrets of the Atlantic with its saline notes while seducing you with an earthly paradise of jasmine, violet, damask, mango, and fennel. If you let it in, you can enjoy its unique personality, its daring step, and its unforgettable memory.
