The Umbria denomination origin is located in the centre of Italy. Ranked as a rich land as regards the variety and quality of its wines, it is one of the most important wine areas of the country. Within the hills in this region, of the most popular routes, with the highest reputation in the world is found - The “Strada dei Vini del Cantico.” The region is near the Tiber River, which runs through most of its vineyards.

The typical grape used is Sagrantino, cultivated mainly in the part of Orvierto and Montefalco. Among the 10 best wines in Italy we can find a wine harvested in this region: Orvieto - white wine, slightly sweet or dry.

The most important DOCG and DOC are Altotiberini Colli, Orvieto and Colli del Traseimeno. The first one is known for the quality of its white wines. Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot are the varieties used for red wines and Trebbiano and Malvasia for white wines.
