Tasty, special and of great quality. That's what Argentinian wines are like. At a general level, Argentinian wine is mainly and traditionally produced in the provinces of Mendoza, San Juan, Salta, La Rioja, Córdoba, Catamarca and, in recent decades, has begun to be produced in Neuquén, Río Negro, Entre Ríos, Chubut, Buenos Aires and Santa Fe.

It should be noted that Argentina is the largest wine producer in Latin America and the fifth largest producer worldwide, as well as the ninth largest exporter in the world. Argentinian wines from Mendoza are very relevant, being the place of greatest production in the country.

As we pointed out, Mendoza is quantitatively the most important province in terms of Argentinian wine production, delivering 65% of the national production, while its exports represent approximately 84% of the total exported.

Within Mendoza, the main regions of wine production are Luján de Cuyo, Agrelo, Uco Valley (Tupungato, Tunuyán and San Carlos) and San Rafael. Among the wines from Mendoza, the one with the greatest international projection is Malbec (20,000 hectares planted in Mendoza), followed by Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Among the whites, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and especially Torrontés stand out.

In the Uco Valley of the Mendoza region we find excellent sparkling wines, and many of them can keep the denomination of origin Champagne, because they are produced by the same French winemaking companies.

Wine tourism has long been widespread in the country. Specifically, in the Mendoza region there are several cellars that are part of gastronomic routes. Interesting places to check out how and where the famous Malbec is produced, for example. As a result, the province has seen many hotel developments in recent years. Taking advantage of the nature of the visits of the region, numerous winemakers (such as Tapiz, in Mendoza) have developed inns to receive tourists in a clearly wine-oriented environment. In addition, with the recovery of the economy, there are numerous investments being placed in the wine industry, resulting in the creation of modern wineries.
