Madrid wines are produced from crops raised in climatic and natural conditions that are very suitable for the vine. The vineyards are located in south of the province of Madrid, and cover an area of land that extends over 12,765 hectares, spread over three districts: Arganda, Navalcarnero and San Martin de Valdeiglesias,
The topography and soils vary in the three areas of Madrid, which produces an important influence on the characteristics of each of the wines they produce. The three areas produce red wines, rosé wines and white wines. The red ones are robust, with a full body and a rich colour. They are very fruity, flavourful, warm and have a low acidity. The whites are pale, smooth and fruity to the palate, Arganda being the most prominent one grape in the production. The rosé wines have a low alcohol content, an attractive colour, and they are fleshy and fruity.
In Madrid, the white grape Malvar is the main variety of Arganda and Navalcarnero. The most important red varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Tinto Fino, Grenache and Merlot.
