Casa Américo, named after the founder, Americo Seabra, is a Portuguese brand which is known for producing excellent wines from the Dão region. The company only works with indigenous varieties of grapes, since these can best express the personality of the terroir itself. The wines offered by Casa Américo are unique and of a high quality only improved by their balance and elegance.
Cabeça D'Velho is just one of the fine red wines offered by Casa Américo. Cabeça D'Velho 2015 was made using a blend of Tinta Roriz, Jaen, and Touriga Nacional grapes. The grapes for this young, ruby-red wine were all destemmed and gently crushed in stainless steel. After 24 hours of cold maceration, the grapes were heated to a controlled temperature of 23ºC. This gentle treatment allowed for the aroma, flavour, and colouring of the grapes to fully make its way into the final product before bottling.
The name of the wine is drawn from the region in which it was made. In the Serra da Estrela, there is a famous natural granite sculpture called the "Cabeça da Velha", near where the vines for this wine are grown. This fine Portuguese red wine is full of the aromas and flavours of red fruit. Cabeça D'Velho 2015 has a good level of acidity that makes it perfect for marrying with red meat, either roasted or grilled.

PREPARATION: cold maceration for 24 hours, fermentation started at a controlled temperature of 23 °C, with a soft traced to a good extraction of the grapes, preserving all the aromas and flavors.
