Adega Cooperativa de Silgueiros, CRL is a co-operative winery in the city of Silgueiros. Located in the Central Region of Portugal, this cooperative includes about 2000 winemakers as members. The cooperative was founded in 1962 in hopes of producing and exporting Dão and Silgueiros wines. The winery currently produces eight varieties of grape, three of which are white while the other five are red.
Four of those red grapes are used in the production of Adega De Silgueiros Tinto. This regional wine is made up of a blend of grapes that demonstrates the powerful flavour of the fine Portuguese varieties from this region. This wine is made using 50% Jaen, 30% Tinta-Roriz, 20% Rufete, and 10% Touriga-Nacional. Once harvested, these grapes are macerated for one week to ensure that all of the flavour and colour makes its way to the final product. After a low-temperature fermentation, the wine is left to age in vats for one year before bottling.
This is an intensely red wine that is as rich as you would expect from a wine from the Dão River region. It is a fine, balanced Portuguese wine that is made with pride by the local winemakers. This is the perfect red wine to enjoy over a weeknight meal, paired with red meat.
