The Winery
Mas d'en Gil
In 1998 the family Rovira Carbonell, a long tradition and experience in the Penedès wine acquires "Masia Barril", which was the first winery bottling wines under this appellation. This farm, historic Priorat, had also belonged to the family of Catalan painter Santiago Rusiñol until early this century. Recovers the original name of the farm: "Mas d'en Gil" and works to preserve its balance and rich natural environment. A year later, in 1999, also acquired the property adjoining the "Sas" and setting the current 125 hectares that make up the property with vineyards, olive, hazelnut, almond trees and typical Mediterranean forest.
