TASTING NOTES:

  • View: Vigneti del Salento Farnese Zolla Primitivo di Manduria Magnum 2016 has a deep, dark, ruby red colour.
  • Nose: Intense bouquet full of aromas of black fruits, plum, dark cherries, blackberries, with a touch of cinnamon.
  • Mouth: Structured wine with a taste of cherries, blackberries, and dark plums, with a slight note of tobacco, leather, and dark chocolate. The finish is well-rounded with soft tannins.

APPELLATION: Primitivo di Manduria

VINEYARD: Farnese Vini. This company is constituted as a wine group, and has a total of seven wineries spread over a wide region across Italy. For this red, the Primitivo grapes are harvested from the Vigneti Del Salento winery, located in Puglia.

GRAPES: 100% Primitivo di Manduria.

AGEING: Matured in second-hand American and French oak barrels for six to eight months prior to bottling.

PREPARATION: The grapes are harvested and carefully selected, and then destemmed and gently crushed. The crushed fruits are then subjected to maceration at a controlled temperature for 8 to 10 days with periodic pumping. The must is then taken to stainless steel tanks where it undergoes malolactic fermentation. Once concluded, the wine is aged in oak barrels until it is ready for bottling and release.

PAIRING: This red is perfect to accompany strong and elaborate first courses, such as beef, pasta, lamb, poultry, and some hard cheeses.

RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18°C
