Did you know that Primitivo takes its name from the early ripening that characterises this grape variety?
Sessantanni Primitivo di Manduria is one of the flagship products of Cantina San Marzano. Produced from ancient alberello vines over 60 years old, this wine originates in the municipalities of San Marzano and Sava, in the torrid heat of Puglia.
Deep ruby red in colour, Sessantanni is a wine that releases powerful fruity (cherry, plum) and spicy aromas. Once tasted, one realises its full-bodiedness and the richness of its noble tannins, ending in a very long finish with notes of coffee, vanilla and cocoa. Ideal with rich red meat and game dishes, it is also excellent as a meditation wine.

The story began in 1962, when 19 vine growers from the village of San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations, came together to follow their dream and founded Cantine San Marzano. Throughout the decades it has grown significantly and now attracts over 1,200 top-quality vine growers.
