As everyone knows, Italy is shaped like a boot. In the heel of that boot, on a small peninsula between the Ionian and Adriatic Seas, lies the small village of San Marzano, where a winery was born out of the dreams of a group of 19 winemakers. This cooperative winery was founded in 1962 and since then has managed to bring traditional Apulian wines to the worldwide stage.
One wine from the elegant collection offered by this progressive winery is the San Marzano Anniversario 62 Primitivo di Manduria Riserva 2017. Crafted in honour of those founding fathers and named after the birth year of the company, the grapes for this 100% Primitivo wine are sourced from the oldest vineyards in the San Marzano and Sava areas. After ageing in French and American oak barriques for a year and a half, the result is a wine that would make its founders proud.
Dark, intense, and complex, this ruby-red spirit is packed with flavour and aroma. From the nose to the finish, you can expect a full palate of flavours ranging from fruit to cocoa and everything in between. This dark red wine is an ideal option to serve alongside rich foods, including meat and game. Like the company it is named after, this wine has excellent ageing potential.

San Marzano

San Marzano is a leading wine producer from the region of Puglia, in the heel of Italy’s boot. The story began in 1962, when 19 vine growers from the village of San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations, came together to follow their dream and founded Cantine San Marzano. Throughout the decades it has grown significantly and now attracts over 1,200 top-quality vine growers.
