Quinta de la Rosa Vintage 2016

Very concentrated and focused aromas, where they divide between fresh, cherry fruit and well ripened plums and wild berries. On one side the port is very generous whilst allowing bitter chocolate and alcoholic flavours to come through. On the palate it is exuberant and seductive, with enormous intensity and complexity but without any extremes resulting in a very balanced and elegant wine. The fruit, chocolate and liquor flavours are well integrated with the tannins which are obvious but yet soft.

4 /5

17 pts Revista de Vinhos - Typical aromas of a young Vintage port from a fresh year, very aromatic with intense black cherry liquor flavours, chocolate and the wild dog rose you find in the Douro hills. On the palate a seductive and full bodied port, perfect to be drunk early but also with sufficient tannins to guarantee its structure and longevity. The tannins are balanced and not too evident so they don't block the aromas and flavours in the initial phase of the port's life.

It has a dense colour. It was a rich wine.
I decided not to pair it with any dish.
The best  to enjoy with friends.
It is a purchase I made in the neighborhood's gourmet shop.
It was 100% recommended, and I would recommend too.

Quinta de la Rosa Port Vintage 2011
Any meat will suit. I took it with a connoisseur of wines.
Typical opacity of a Quinta de la Rosa. I think it gave me heartburn.

To this fortified would have suit better a softer meat. I bought it at the behest of a friend.
Nice colour. Powerful taste of wild berries.
