90 pts Wine Spectator - The 2008 LBV has very lively, complex aromas with a mature, black plum, spicy, herbal finish. It has good concentration without being too full bodied and fresh tannins giving the port length and depth. Thanks to the year and good acidities, two opposing flavours of maturity and concentration are well integrated with freshness and equilibrium.

It's delicious solo. very elegant and aristocratic nose which brings aromas of cherry brandy. rock rose and spices. Very silky in the mouth. where the black fruit appears wrapped in dark chocolate flavors. Very rich with silky tannins that give it excellent structure. In this LBV all its components are in excellent balance. its sweetness and generosity is offset by its fresh fruit and fine tannins. The Quinta da Port wines de la Rosa follow the traditional style: Fermented with foot treading in granite mills and aged in vats and casks (oak casks of 550 liters) of very old wood. As with the Douro DOC Douro this house. We seek harmony and balance of our grapes in the vineyard. so they can express themselves freely in the bottle. In 2012 winter and spring were extremely dry. which had been sacrificed by not restoring the water levels. Production was. initially. very low. with a very irregular flowering. accompanied by bad weather. It rained a bit in late spring. but virtually no down during the summer months (virtually. because we had some thunderstorms and some days of low atmospheric pressure). The lack of water has meant that the grapes stay small and focused more slow to mature. The harvest began later than usual - on 16 September - and it was done gradually. At Quinta de la Rosa is practiced sustainable agriculture. certified by SATIVA ADVID and entities. The wines do not contain. They were not produced from. and do not include substances originating from genetically modified organisms. They do not use any products from animals. Quinta LBV of the de la Rosa are matured in barrels for 4-6 years.
