Poças Vintage 2009 (Tinto Cão, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz)

TASTING NOTES OF Poças Vintage 2009:

  • View: saturated red.
  • Nose: aromas of cedar, blackberry, strawberry and licorice.
  • Mouth: berry flavors, full-bodied, with firm but elegant tannins and an expressive, lingering finish.

APPELLATION: Oporto.

GRAPES: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão.

AGEING: aged in oak barrels for maturation, bottling, without any filtering, between the second and third year after harvest. Matured in bottle for many years.

PREPARATION: Porto made only in exceptional years.

PAIRING: blue or creamy high quality cheeses, chocolates, desserts berries.

TEMPERATURE: 12-15 °C

TASTING NOTES:
Full red colour. Berry fruit flavours. Full-bodied, with firm yet elegant tannins and an expressive and persistent finish.
- Winemaker: Jorge Manuel Pintão and Luís Rodrigues
- Winemaking: A Port only made on very exceptional years. Aged in oak barrels to mature it is bottled, without any filtration whatsoever, between the second and third year after the harvest. VINTAGE Ports will then mature in the bottle for many years and gradually achieve the outstanding style of a great wine. Grapes are harvested manually and transported in 30 Kg trays. Controlled fermentation with extended maceration, stopped by grape brandy addition. Matures in wooden vats, strictly controlled with successive tasting, until the approval by the IVDP.
- Grape Varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão.
- Food Pairing: Superb with high quality blue or creamy cheeses, chocolates, berry fruit desserts.
- Store and Serve Advices: Store the bottle horizontally in a dark place with constant temperature, ideally between 12ºC and 15ºC.

Dark in color, has an aroma full of citrus fruit, blackberry, blueberry and mint. The palate is full-bodied and full, with imposing and vigorous tannins and a long, fruity finish. appealing wine, and very well managed.
