Offley Porto was founded by the wine merchant William Offley in 1737 to import and bottle port wine for consumption in the UK. Within a short amount of time, this business became one of the biggest English houses in Porto. With its nearly three centuries of experience, the company now makes up the fine collection of brands at Sogrape Vinhos.
Offley Ruby is a red port made using traditional production methods. All of the grapes used in production come from the Quinta da Boa Vista in Cima Corgo. These grapes are from the Tinta Amarela, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, and Touriga Franca varieties. After vinification, the wine is taken to the centuries-old Offley premises and are left to age in oak casks. Offley Ruby is a masterful mix of wines that are between two and five years of age so that the final blended product has an average age of three years.
As its name says, this port is a beautiful ruby red in the glass. The oak adds spice notes to the aroma that otherwise smells mainly of red fruit. Young yet elegant, lively with mature tannins, Offley Ruby is a very accessible port wine for anyone to enjoy. It will pair wonderfully with cheese and fruit-based desserts but can also be enjoyed on its own.
