Portugal is the land which supplies the world with excellent port wines and this Don Pablo Tawny is no exception. Crafted by C. Da Silva (Vinhos) SA, this traditional port is made according to the high standards of the company, which has been around since 1862. The company is now known in countries around the world for its distinctive port wines.
Don Pablo Tawny is made using Tinta Barroca, Tinta Cão, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca grapes that have all been grown and harvested from the Douro region, which, in 1756, became the first officially demarcated wine region in the world. Halfway through fermentation, brandy is added to stop the fermentation process and to ensure that some of the natural sugars are left behind. The port is then left to mature in French oak barrels before bottling.
This beautiful auburn coloured port is perfect to pair with nut or fruit-based desserts such as apple pie or almond cake. Dried fruits, nuts, and mature or blue cheeses are also delicious partners for this sweet Portuguese fortified wine, which gives off the faint aroma of dried fruit itself. When chilled, you can enjoy Don Pablo Tawny as an aperitif to prepare your stomach for what lies ahead.
