TASTING NOTES:

  • Nose: fruity and spicy aromas of black cherries, blackberries and cassis and plum freshness. delicate floral notes of rose petals and violets that add elegance and complexity.
  • Mouth: Velvety texture that is characteristic of Croft combined in perfect balance with the living acid. firm but well integrated tannins. The taste is determined by the intense flavors of wild berries. The port has a lush finish with hints of strawberry and cherry. Reserve excellent fruitiness characteristic of Croft style.

VINEYARD: Croft. To celebrate its 430 years anniversary Croft recalls in this port wine at the base of the house in 1588 and to the rich history of the oldest port wine company operation.

To commemorate the company has decided to produce a port in a limited edition, the "Croft 430th Anniversary Celebration Edition". The labels show the reproduction of the work "The collapse of the Spanish Armanda in 1588" by the Dutch artist Jan Luyken, which can be seen in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.GRAPES: Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional.

AGEING: The wine was around 4 years in French oak barrels before bottling without filtration.

PREPARATION: This port wine made from indigenous varieties of red grapes from old vines the Douro region.

PAIRING: soft cheeses, smoked cheese, goose liver, liver paste and dried fruits.

RECOMMENDED TEMPERATURE SERVICE: 16-18 °C

Deep ruby black colour with a narrow purple rim. The nose opens with a ne crisp fruitiness, black cherry, blackberry and cassis, and aromas of fresh plum. Delicate floral notes of rose petal and violet emerge to provide elegance and complexity. The wine has the typical Cro_ roundness and smoothness of set by a fresh acidity and rm but well integrated tannins. The palate is crammed with intense berry fruit and nishes with luscious flavours of strawberry and cherry. A superb reserve Port, displaying all the ne fruit character which is a hallmark of the Cro_ft style.
