Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2013

2013 - Non contractual picture. Smith Haut Lafitte 2013 is a very dark wine red, almost black. The nose shows a bouquet of black fruit and very fresh red fruit. After swirling, the nose is complex with notes of spice, cedar, licorice combined with violets and a flinty touch. The palate is fresh, dynamic, powerful, dense, sleek. The tannins are concentrated, creamy and sweet. They provide a great length and a nice texture to this wine. On the palate crisp and ripe fruit accompanied by a spicy dimension of citron, of clove and a very nice finish with floral and mineral notes. The luxury label in 2015 vintage, gold on black, has been redesigned to celebrate a double anniversary: the 25th vintage of Cathiards and 650 years of Smith Haut Lafitte (created in 1365). She adorns bottles of red and white Smith Smith of fleeting way until the next vintage. Domain Château Smith Haut Lafitte: From 1365, the noble house of Bosq chose this land to operate a vineyard. Then in the eighteenth century Scotsman George Smith bought the estate, accola his name, built Chartreuse and exported to England on its vessels, already renowned barrels. In 1842, Mr. Duffour-Dubergier, mayor of Bordeaux but also passionate winegrower, inherited from his mother the Château Smith Haut Lafitte and made a Grand Cru. Early in the century Maison Louis Eschenauer realized the exceptional quality of this wine and assured distribution, to end in 1958 by buying the property. Since that time, significant investments have been made, including the construction of a superb underground cellar that can raise together over 1000 barrels. In 1990, Daniel CATHIARD falls in love with his tour of vineyards and is part of the prestigious line owners with the intention to continue to promote this noble thought: his permanent quest for excellence led him to seamlessly handle the most technical modern winemaking with traditional methods: living soil, organic compost, return to small oak vats, aging on lees in ... undoubtedly, the elegant red wines of Smith Haut Lafitte and the sophisticated bouquet of its renowned white worldwide deserve these daily care.

I tasted at an organized wine tasting .
Red towards reddish brown. This Château Smith Haut Lafitte smells like violets. Unfortunately tasted vinegary.
A 2013 goes fine with snacks.

The noble Bosq family started growing grapes in 1365. The property was purchased in the 18th century by Scotsman George Smith, who gave the estate its present name. He also built the manor house and exported his - by now famous - wine to England on his own ships. In 1842, Mr. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux and an enthusiastic winegrower, inherited Château Smith Haut Lafitte from his mother and brought the wine up to great growth status. Impressed by Smith Haut Lafitte's excellent quality, the Louis Eschenauer company distributed the wine all over the world starting in the early 20th century, deciding to buy the estate in 1958. After the Eschenaueur period came to an end, a great deal of money has been invested in the estate, particularly on the construction of a superb underground cellar holding over 1000 barrels.
