Château Carbonnieux 2005 (Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot)

Château Carbonnieux Red - 2005

36% Merlot - 7 % Cabernet franc - 57% Cabernet Sauvignon

COLOUR: Deep red colour, with purple hues.

NOSE: A nose of red fruit, cocoa and roasted aromas, followed by crisp mentholated touches. Hints of violet then appear, followed by blackcurrant and fruit of the forest.

PALATE: Full and smooth initially. The tannins are dense and lend good structure to the wine, which is full-bodied and opulent, although it is still somewhat subdued, which promises outstanding potential.

Food and wine pairing: Red meat.

Our suggestion: Beef steak or entrecote cooked over vine shoots.

Reviews about Château Carbonnieux 2013

The 2013 vintage offers soft tannins, followed by a slight woody, just mastered. It owes its fruity Merlots precisely selected by the famous Denis Dubourdieu.
Carbonnieux have tamed this vintage, despite the difficulties.

We had it in the restaurant.
Cherry red colour with purple edges. It smells like wild berries. According to my personal opinion, it was quite flat on the palate.

We drank with another couple.
Colour of glacé cherry. To emphasize on this  the smell of coffee. I noticed a smoky flavour.
I would be very happy if I received the Château Carbonnieux as birthday present.

The 2014 smells like violets. I liked it because it left my mouth a bit harsh.
One of the wines with more character of Pessac-Léognan.
