Segura Viudas Xarel·lo Penedès 2018 (Xarel·lo)
- View: Pale yellow, bright and attractive straw.
- Nose: Intense ripe fruit pineapple, peach and apple, floral notes and a pleasant background aniseed aroma.
- Mouth: gourmand and tasty entry, long acidity, freshness and balance. Lingering on the palate and a fruity peach and pineapple aftertaste.
Aging: wine with these lees in stainless steel tanks for 5 months and periodic agitation to encourage the transfer of certain compounds to wine yeasts thus giving more volume and consistency.
PREPARATION: maceration prefermentative at 10 °C for 5 hours to extract the varietal aromas found in the skin of grapes. Soft pressing, static racking for 24 h and contribution of selected yeasts from our private collection. Fermentation at 16-18 °C followed by maintaining the racking lees.
PAIRING: Pasta meat, seafood, white grilled meats, fatty fish: salmon, tuna, trout.
The Segura Viudas building, which dates back to the 11th century, was initially a watchtower. The various architectural styles visible today—Visigothic, Romanesque and Gothic—are the result of several work extensions. In the 13th century the tower lost its military importance and was converted into a masia, the name given to country houses in Catalonia. At the end of the 19th century, when the region became aware of the potential of the various indigenous varieties and the first steps were taken in the application of the traditional method, the estate produced its first sparkling wines.More about the Winery

I think the cellar Segura Viudas makes a very nice colour white wine. Curious aromas of citrus. We drank it fast, cool is very refreshing.
I tried it with appetizers before dinner.
