Elaboration of Fortant de France Merlot Rosé Serigrafiert Pays d'Oc 2018
Fortant de France Merlot Rosé Serigrafiert Pays d'Oc 2018 (Merlot)
- View: As a rose, this has the typical pink colouring, with hints of coral orange.
- Nose: The bouquet of this wine is much like that of a bouquet of flowers. Floral notes include that of iris and violet. Fruity notes, which stand out much more, including cherry and raspberry.
- Mouth: On the tongue, the fruity flavours stand out the most. Like with the scent, these flavours are mostly of red berries. One flavour that is not so noticeable in scent, is that of licorice.
APPELLATION: Pays d'Oc
VINEYARD: Fortant De France has been making wines since the early 1920s. However, they did not start growing in the Pay d'Oc (Languedoc-Roussillon) region until the late 1980s. The winery owns 1500 hectares of land here.
PREPARATION: Dorant De France does not say how it makes its wine. However, we do know how wine rose is traditionally made. The grapes are first processed with the skins still in contact with the grapes (known as the skin contact method). This helps to give the wine its pink colour. The skins are often removed within 24 hours. The grapes are then pressed and fermented.
PAIRING: This pairs best with salads and light seafood.
RECOMMENDED SERVING TEMPERATURE: 9-11°C
