Description · Arrogant Frog

Arrogant Frog Réserve 2018 (Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre)

  • View: A deep ruby red with garnet highlights.
  • Nose: A subtle yet complex aroma of mainly fruits, with notes of berry, floral, and a bit of spice and vanilla.
  • Mouth: Medium-bodied on the palate with an incredibly smooth and fruit-forward taste. Notes of ripe blackberry, plum, and red rose petals take centre stage and are supported by complex undertones of spices. The finish is rich with a final note of toasted oak.

VINEYARD: Arrogant Frog. The vineyard is approximately 20 hectares in Grand Cru Limoux, about 100 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. The vines grow in soil made up of clay, limestone, and shale at approximately 200 meters above sea level.

GRAPES: 45% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre.

AGEING: Aged for 12 months in new and used oak, 80% American oak and 20% French oak.

PREPARATION: After careful harvest and destemming, the grapes are fermented, with each variety vinified separately. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks temperature-controlled to 28ºC for 4 days for the Grenache and Mourvèdre, 5 days for the Syrah. All three varieties went through traditional maceration, lasting around 2 weeks.

PAIRING: Beef, veal, barbecue, pastas with red sauce, pizza, risotto, Japanese cuisine, or soft cheeses.

I enjoyed with a good friend.
Twinkling cherry colour. Noticeable aromas of cherry and licorice. This red has good body.
It would have been better with meat.
