Château Latour 2011

The Château Latour was born in the vineyards to organic and biodynamic run, located in the heart of the AOC Pauillac, in the famous wine region of Bordeaux. It is one of the premier cru included in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855. This classification system was built by the Emperor Napoleon III for the Universal Exhibition in Paris, in order to make more recognizable the best wines of Bordeaux even outside the borders of France. The wines were ordered from first to fifth cru based on the reputation of the winery and the price, which at the time was a factor directly related to quality. Along with the other premier Grand Cru Classé is considered a legend that has made the history of vino.È produced mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, picked and selected by hand. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks filled exclusively by gravity, at a controlled temperature. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 24 months in new barrels of French oak Nievre and Allier. The Château Latour has a ruby red color with garnet. The nose opens with an elegant and intense bouquet, with hints of cassis and truffle, filled with earthy notes and tobacco. The palate is a regal wine, full-bodied, powerful and tannic. Perfect to accompany grilled red meat and poultry, it is ideal in combination with mushrooms and dishes of Asian cuisine.

Château Latour 1 X 2011

My partner bought it in a store.
Clear ruby red colour. Balsamic and menthol aromas. It would have been better if it had been cooler than it was. Our fault.

Château Latour À 2011

It has a dark red colour. Special aromas like vanilla. Good acidity for my taste.
I had it with fish, but I didn't like the fish, and therefore the wine didn't taste right.
The first person who told me about this wine, was my brother.

The winter of 2010-2011 was dry and cool

Mars was also very little watered and its temperatures were mild, to see almost summer during the last decade
The property lives in summer since April, with monthly average temperatures above 5 ° C and a rain deficit of 83% compared to seasonal norms
At the end of May, they observed a monthly rainfall deficit since the beginning of the year of 55%
The month of June experienced fairly frequent but low rainfall, the sunshine and temperatures were normal for this period
However, they will retain the peaks of heat June 26 and 27, where the temperature rose to over 40 ° C, causing scalding on the most exposed berries, mainly on Cabernet Sauvignon
Unlike the spring, the summer was fairly cool and experienced normal precipitation for the month of July and slightly higher than for the month of August
Temperatures also climbed to 40 ° C on August 20 and 21
The month of September was little watered (80% water deficit compared to the thirty-year average) and the temperatures were average in the whole, with regularly days close to 30 ° C

Exceptional spring conditions resulted in early bud break, which accelerated with rapid warming of the soil
Flowering took place under good sunshine conditions (mid-bloom on May 16) but nitrogen stress, due to weak mineralization, caused some physiological dripping, especially on young vines or clay soils

The sustained drought at the end of May eventually slowed the vegetation, which resumed in mid-June, surviving the rains

The veraison started timidly at the beginning of July and then accelerated from the 20th
Mid-veraison was noted on July 19th on the Merlots and on July 25th on the Cabernets-Sauvignons.

We drank the whole bottle at once with friends and a good conversation.
Intense ruby red shade. Toasty aromas. Toffee and coffee flavours.
This wine improved the meal.

Château Latour 2014
Noticeable aromas of cherry and licorice. I felt it alive and fresh.
I will buy it again, for sure.

The Château Latour was part of a wine tasting.
It has a very nice colour. A red that smells of cherry and licorice. I don't know what it was but it tasted ripe.
To this red would have suit better a softer meat.
