  • Nose: Dark scents make up this wine. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes mingle with the deep tones of dark berries, liquorice, dark chocolate, and tobacco.
  • Mouth: The impressive flavour profile of this wine includes rich flavours of dark berries, such as cherries, throughout. Hints of dark chocolate and tobacco linger. The dry tannins help to leave a pleasant aftertaste of dried dark berries.

APPELLATION: Paarl

VINEYARD: Vondeling Wines, located in Paarl, South Africa, is owned by Richard Gower, Julian Johnsen, and Anthony Ward. This vineyard has been producing grapes since the 1700s. The vineyard is located on the temperate Paardenberg Mountain, giving the grapes a unique growing environment. The soil is made of weathered granite. All grapes are picked by hand.

GRAPES: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

AGEING: The grapes ferment with their skins on for one week before the wine is drained. The wine is then placed in Hungarian oak barrels and fermented for at least 18 months before being aged for an additional year in the bottle.

PREPARATION: After being picked by hand, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are chilled in a cellar. The berries ferment naturally for two days before they are crushed, naturally extracting the tannins. This adds to the dark fruity flavour. After this, the berries age in oak barrels and bottles for over two years total before being sold.

PAIRING: Lamb, red meat, stew, and poultry pair best with this wine.
