Murcia wines have their own characteristics. The red wines are ruby-red, soft and warm on the palate. They have low acidity and high alcohol content. Murcia also produces some rosé and white wines, but their quality is lower than that of the red wines they produce.
The strains grown in Murcia are mainly Monastrell, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache Tintorera and Cencibel, among the red grapes. The white strains Merseguera, Verdil, Airen and Macabeo are the ones cultivated almost exclusively in the territory of Murcia.
