Already in the Middle Ages, this region was famous for its unique wines in the appellation Moulis-en-Médoc under the name Terre de Poujeaux. The Château Poujeaux winery is located in the north-east of Moulis on a single uninterrupted piece of land where the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Fran grape varieties are cultivated.

Château Poujeaux 2016 expresses the unique combination of grape varieties and is an internationally popular wine. From Wine Advocate, Château Poujeaux 2016 received 91-93 Parker points for its unique bouquet of blackberry and tobacco. The palate is medium strong with grainy tannin.

TASTING NOTES OF Château Poujeaux 2016:
- View: rich and deep red.
- Nose: fresh, fruity, notes of snuff, good concentration.
- Mouth: long and very fresh palate with black fruits and spices, round tannins.

APPELLATION: Moulis-en-Médoc.

GRAPES: 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 35%, 5% Petit Verdot.

AGEING: 12 months in French oak barrels.
PREPARATION: vinification in wooden tanks, cement and stainless steel tanks small to carry out a celling winemaking.

PAIRING: sausages, red meats, sauce dishes, game meat.

Red intense cherry colour and very high layer. Slight smell of tea in this Moulis. A very well balanced Moulis.
The best of the meal was this wine.

The Vintage 2013possède elegant nose. On the palate, we find jam blackberry. To be aged a few years, it is primarily a charmer and bulky wine with tannins!

The Château Poujeaux part of the Cuvelier family also owns Clos Fourtet, Premier Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion. They appeal to the advice of Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt.

The 70 hectares of contiguous span a rump of Graves in the heart of the Médoc. The planting of the vineyard is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Château Poujeaux enjoys an exceptional terroir.

The wines are aged in barrels (30% new) for 12 months.

This 2012 vintage is a great stimulus for this Moulis. On the extreme delicacy, it offers complexity. This Cru is refined over the years.

It is not necessary to pair this Château Poujeaux with food, on the contrary!. I have shared a bottle with my boss in more than one occasion.
Brillant ruby red colour, high layer. Raspberry flavour. It was light but tasted like blackberries.
