- Nose: The nose of this wine is developing. It displays fresh and fruity aromas of apples, melons, mango and spice.
- Mouth: On the palate, this is a wine with medium body, fresh acidity, great balance and a long and mineral finish. The flavours are concentrated around notes of mango, papaya, apricot, wax, honeysuckle, orange peel and delicate spices.
VINEYARD: Grans Fassian. The Old Vines vineyard of this producer are located on the Leiwener peak of the Laurentiuslay mountain, in the Mosel region. The inclination of this steep slope is 60%, thus only special manual harvesting is possible. The soil type is grey slate, which has optimal drainage.
GRAPES: 100% Riesling
AGEING: The wine is aged on the fine yeast for six weeks, before bottling. This is a wine with a huge bottle ageing potential. It can be consumed now but also it can be kept for at least 10 more years and still display freshness and some new more mature aromas.
PREPARATION: The grapes are manually harvested and transported to the winery as soon as possible. After -de-stemming and crushing the grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks.
PAIRING: The fresh acidity of this wine cuts through fatty food dishes made from pork or chicken. Its spicy yet fresh finish is a perfect match for spicy food or cured meat.
