Technical sheet · Grillesino Battiferro Morellino di Scansano Riserva
“The variety Morellino, technically defined "a" strain of the much more famous Sanvgiovese is typical of the Scansano area, from which the famous DOCG. Legend has it that the variety derives its name from the dark color (slightly dark) Peel similar to the color of the coat of those Maremmani horses locally "Morelli". The location south of Tuscany and proximity to the Tyrrhenian Sea offer hot growing seasons that allow the grapes to fully mature and develop high levels of sugar. The result is a wine full-bodied, solid and complex but not "difficult" to appreciate it as sometimes happens for many supertuscans. Despite riconosimenti and preferences given to this variety, Morellino still escapes the masses and remains in fact one of the "hidden gems" Tuscan oenology.”
