Venus la Universal 2015 (Cariñena, Garnacha and Syrah)
- View: dark cherry, garnet rim.
- Nose: fine aromas of ripe red fruit, graphite and cocoa.
- Mouth: flavourful, varietal, with body and nerve.
VINEYARD: four plots of Grenache and Carignan from old vines located between Piñana and Crossos. Syrah from the estate of Venus La Universal. Vineyard located on top of a mountain located on the north and south sides. Calcareous clay soils deep, moist allowing long, slow ripening.
GRAPES: 50% Grenache, 40% Carignan, 10% Syrah.
AGEING: 18 months in French oak barrels of 4,000 liters.
PREPARATION: whole processed and scrape some Grenache, fermenting with wild yeast, a light pigeage during fermentation and maceration, which takes approximately 28 to 32 days in wooden vats and open barrels 500 liters grapes.
PAIRING: white and red meat or meaty fish.
TEMPERATURE: 16 °C
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 14%

"La Universal" is a small farm of 4 ha. located at the end of Falset, granitic soils (Saul), acidic and very poor in organic matter, from which this restless winemaker, daughter of Jose Luis Perez (Mas Martinet), and her husband René Barbier, producing wines with names of goddesses and heroines of mythology within the parameters of organic viticulture.More about the Winery

A Montsant with brown edges. The Montsant smells like cherry, licorice. On the palate was quite thick.
I have found it rather fine.
